For instance, consider ABC Finance – a company offering financial services, which means it contains and processes its clients’ personal data. Without the monitoring software they were open to inside threats like loss of data, and some of their clients’ sensitive files being accessed. To eliminate these risks, ABC Finance developed a monitoring solution that monitors the actions of their employees throughout their platforms. This software records an individual’s typing sequence, watches the files they open, and records all attempts made to open the restricted files in the computer.

    For example, if an employee tried to open some files that they were not supposed to open, the software quickly raised an alarm and investigations started. It also benefited ABC Finance’s IT department in deciding whether an employee was clumsy enough to click on the wrong link, or if they were trying to embezzle corporate information. As an example, one Kenya employee was caught red-handed trying to transfer client information to a flash drive by means of a monitoring system.
